Make a map of moles. "
Everyone has moles and freckles. How well do you know your own? Make your personal map of moles, which will be shown exactly where your moles are and what they have characteristics. Having made such a map, you can carry with her through regular inspections. If you find a new formation or modification of old moles, contact your doctor.
Identify the characteristics.
In order to distinguish normal from malignant mole, you need to define some of its characteristics:
- Asymmetry. Safe moles are usually round, symmetrical shape. If you mentally divide a mole in half, then the part will be a mirror image of each other. If the halves are different from each other – is a bad sign.
- Boundaries. Normal moles have a clear, smooth boundary. Suspicious moles have jagged edges and blurry.
- Color. Moles may be different color from each other. But if placed in different shades of the border one mole – this is already cause for concern.
- Diameter. The size of the mole is very important. If it is more 6mm (about the diameter of a pencil eraser), check it at the doctor, although melanomas can be smaller.
- External changes. The appearance of crusts, cracks, flaking, bleeding, or sudden disappearance of a mole – an occasion to see a doctor.
Check the hard place.
Most people notice only the moles, which are located at easily accessible locations, such as face, chest or hands. But it must be remembered that the dangerous moles can appear in unexpected places: in the center of the back, between the toes, on feet. Such places are often overlooked during inspections, while they may be the most dangerous.
Look carefully for any modifications of your moles. If the mole bothers you, consult a doctor. Remember that any of its trauma can lead to skin cancer.
